GOVERNMENT HOUSE.

HONGKONG. 21st September, 1921.

I have the honour to request instructions as

to the proper method of disposal of three shares in the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. These shares

fomed part of the original endowment of a fund for charitable purposes known as Hilfsfond which was administered by the

German Consulate prior to the war.

2.

After the outbreak of war the fund was

administered by the Consul-General for the United States of America and the proceeds applied to the relief of German prisoners of war interned in Australia for which purpose six shares in the same Bank were disposed of with the consent of the Goverment. The three shares now held by the Custodian of Enemy Property form the balance of the fund. No further information is available regarding the conditions of administration, or the purposes to which the original

fund was devoted.

I have the honour to be,

sir,

Your most obedient humble servant,

7.&. Stibb

Governor, &c.
